It has been ten years since mothers, children, and community members at the Bella Romero school 4th through 8th grade have fought against fracking permits that have discounted their health and safety. Unfortunately the same state, federal, and local agencies’ neglect is continuing a decade later.

“Fracking the System” feature length documentary was released years ago to educate and help spread the word against several fracking sites in Greeley near a well loved and protected elementary, but years later, what has been done to address the equity analysis for the local communities health and safety?

This year in 2026 we would like as Womxn from the Mountain a chance to highlight, support, and uplift an anti-fracking champion Patricia Garcia Nelson for fighting for her future generations as a mother, community member, and Colorado environmental justice advocate at Green Latinos, by highlighting the ongoing environmental justice fight against fracking in Weld County being within feet of Bella Romero and the most vulnerable of populations, our children.

Please learn more at https://www.frackingthesystem.com/ about how you can help fight against the environmental injustice in disproportionately impacted communities and our future generations. When we stand together it is not just to make those with privilege uncomfortable, but it is to recognize the historical inequalities Colorado is too comfortable with allowing for “the economy” that creates sacrifice zones for generations. Enough is Enough to recognize disproportionately impacted communities who did not make themselves, join the fight to protect our air, land, water, and better quality of life. Your future generation needs you now!!!

Check out Fracking the System at https://www.frackingthesystem.com/ and the environmental justice act needed to protect disproportionately impacted communities at https://cdphe.colorado.gov/environmental-justice.

We need to fight against predatory behaviours in our agencies and that takes us all because we are all connected!!!
