Industrial Scale Decarbonization – High Temperature Heat Pump Steam Production

April 23 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Industrial steam and heat applications account for 10% of global carbon emissions and 25% of industrial sector emissions with the sector long reliant on burning fossil fuels to generate process heat and steam. Decarbonizing process heat will be critical for us to achieve emission reduction targets. Come join us to learn more about an electric heat pump boiler system that can substantially reduce industrial emissions and be competitive with fossil fuel systems. Ashwin Salvi of AtmosZero will present on their technology, its potential impact on reducing emissions from industrial process heat, and their pilot project at New Belgium Brewing. There will also be tours of the prototype boiler, currently housed at the CSU Powerhouse lab. The AtmosZero team developed their electrified steam boiler technology in partnership with Colorado State University and the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E).

About our speaker:
Ashwin builds on his nearly 20 years of clean energy and climate background to advance meaningful technology development and drive commercialization. Before decarbonizing the industrial sector with AtmosZero, Ashwin completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan, joined ARPA-E as a Fellow where he worked on high-risk, high-reward energy concepts, and then joined Achates Power, where he led customer engagements.

This event is free to attend and will be at the CSU Powerhouse Campus 430 N. College Avenue in Room 104 (to your immediate right once you enter the building).
