Rally for Oil and Gas Regulation Enforcement
August 30 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am
In July of 2021, Larimer County adopted new oil and gas regulations as part of their Land Use Code, which became effective in September. Since then the Larimer Alliance has been tracking chronic problems with legacy, marginally producing facilities operated by Prospect Energy north of Fort Collins. Problems with their operations have been well documented in recent coverage in the Coloradoan, along with environmental advocacy group Earthworks. We have expressed our concern to the Larimer County Commissioners, calling for more action to hold this operator accountable for their failure to protect our health, safety, the environment, and wildlife at their facilities.
We will rally outside the County Courthouse
before the Tuesday morning Admin Matters meeting
of the Larimer County Commissioners
Meet us on the small grassy island in the Southwest corner of the parking lot outside the Larimer County Courthouse at 200 W. Oak Street, Fort Collins, at 8:30 AM, Tuesday, August 30, before the Commissioners’ Administrative Matters Meeting. Speakers will address our continuing communication with the County on this issue. We plan to send in a few representatives of our group to address the Commissioners during the public comment section of their meeting.
IT’S TIME TO DEMAND THE COUNTY PRO-ACTIVELY
ENFORCE THEIR OWN REGULATIONS ON BOTH
NEW AND EXISTING OIL AND GAS SITES!
