Salon duc Tape – Prospects for Federal Action on the Climate Crisis – March 25th, 2022
**********
What are the prospects for federal action to address the climate crisis at scale in 2022?
On Friday, March 25th, Salon duc Tape will welcome Representative Joe Neguse of Colorado’s Second Congressional District to discuss the prospects of Congress and the President taking action to address the climate crisis in 2022. President Biden has committed to reducing greenhouse gas pollution from the U.S. by 50 – 52 percent by 2030, and the House-approved Build Back Better Act included $555 Billion to reach that goal. That legislation failed in the Senate last year, however, and the chances of a strong climate bill passing both chambers of Congress are not likely to improve after the elections in November of this year.
This salon will start half an hour later than the usual time, at 7:30 p.m. Prior to Representative Neguse’s arrival, Heddie Hall and Kevin Cross will provide background into the history of the Build Back Better Act and the Green New Deal Resolution. Heddie is a constituent advocate for Representative Neguse based in Colorado. The topics that she covers are environmental, public lands, animal rights, social security, and healthcare. Kevin is the convener of the Colorado Coalition for a Livable Climate (CCLC) and a board member of the Northern Colorado Alliance for a Livable Future (NCALF).
Salon duc Tape, a public forum sponsored by NCALF, meets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month from 7:00 — 9:00 p.m. We will continue to meet via Zoom until coronavirus variants no longer pose the serious threat that they do currently. You will need to register in advance for this salon here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information – including a new link – about joining the salon. Please note that Zoom now requires everyone using their services to have a (free) Zoom account. If you do not currently have an account, be prepared to spend some additional time registering prior to the salon.
