Salon duc Tape – The Future of Fort Collins Land Development Policy – February 10th
**********
Now that the Fort Collins Land Development Code has been repealed, what’s next?
At the salon on February 10th, Ross Cunniff of Preserve Fort Collins and Kelly Evans of FoCo Forward will discuss their ideas of what should come next following the repeal of the recently-adopted Fort Collins Land Development Code. Ross will describe what he views as the shortcomings of the repealed code with respect to public engagement, housing affordability, transit, and neighborhoods, and will provide a summary of the direction Preserve Fort Collins will be going in the future. Kelly will share why FoCo Forward supports proposed updates to the existing land use code in order to increase housing capacity, enable more affordability, allow more diverse housing options that fit with neighborhoods, make the code easier to use, and increase predictability of code. Both hope that discussions like this one will help spur thoughtful reflection to make Fort Collins a stronger and more inclusive community moving forward.
Ross Cunniff was a member of the Poudre School District Board of Education from 1997-2007, and served as its President from 2003 to 2005. He served on the Fort Collins City Council from 2013 to 2021. Ross represented the Council on the Housing Catalyst board until 2019, and also represented Fort Collins on the Platte River Power Authority Board. He is an engineering manager for NVIDIA, a computer chip company. Kelly Evans has served as Executive Director of Neighbor to Neighbor since 2012. She has over 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience. Based on the data that housing is often the foundation for success for individuals and families, Kelly serves as a community advocate for housing equity and opportunity. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare and Harvard University’s Achieving Excellence Program.
