Community meeting to discuss FoCo’s proposed O&G regulations

March 30 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The recent history of regulation of the fossil fuel industry by Fort Collins has a tumultuous past. Ever since fracking took off around 2010, it has roiled the political landscape. Fort Collins voted to approve a moratorium on O&G drilling inside the city in 2011, which was struck down by the Colorado Supreme Court in 2016. Then SB-181 was passed in 2019, giving local jurisdictions in Colorado the legal power to regulate the O&G industry, which they had never had before. But what are they doing with it? That will be decided at an important City Council meeting on April 4, 2023.

FracTracker Alliance is a non-profit started in western Pennsylvania, that is dedicated providing information to local communities nationwide who are oppressed by the fracking industry. The Larimer Alliance is a local non-profit, started in Fort Collins in 2019 in the wake of SB-181, that is dedicated to protecting the health and environmental quality of the city and county from the fossil fuel industry.  They are focused on influencing the policies regulating the fossil fuel industry adopted by Fort Collins and Larimer County.

By participating in the event, you should be informed enough to let your city council representative know how you feel about the O&G regulations proposed by the city — and you should!
