Salon duc Tape – How to Stop Funding the Climate Crisis – February 24th
What can WE do to defund fossil fuels?
Past salon presenter Scott Denning has said that the solution to the climate crisis is simple: stop burning fossil fuels. Another part of the solution is to stop funding the burning of fossil fuels. Money – and the desire for more it – is the major contributor to the Climate Crisis. The 65 biggest banks in the world have invested over $40 Trillion in fossil fuels since the Paris Climate Agreement went into effect in 2016. If you have a credit card, insurance policy, retirement fund or loan there is a good chance that you are part of that $40 trillion. At the salon on Friday, February 24th, Sally Dowiatt will present information on the present state of funding for fossil fuels and the growing movement to divest. She will then focus on a practical walk through of how to check our own personal finances and move money to more sustainable banks and credit cards without jeopardizing credit ratings. She will provide Information on the Th!rd Act’s Day of Action on March 21st to defund fossil fuels and how you can participate.
Sally is a Salon duc Tape organizer and longtime activist. She has been involved for several years in the Defund Fossil Fuels initiative and is a member of the 350 Colorado Fossil Free PERA Committee.
