Salon duc Tape: Social Permaculture for Community Resilience
January 8 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Salon duc Tape – Social Permaculture for Community Resilience – January 8th, 2021
What is “social permaculture”, and how can it advance social justice?
A raging pandemic. Social polarization. Ever-worsening climate chaos. Racial oppression. Any one of these crises feels daunting to address, let alone all of them at once. But what if we saw them as symptoms of an underlying meta-crisis – and used them as an invitation to rethink how we solve problems altogether?
By synthesizing wisdom from the more-than-human world, indigenous practices and cutting edge design thinking, the emerging discipline of Social Permaculture aims to do just that, bringing a whole-systems approach to social change. Join author, facilitator and consultant Adam Brock at the salon on Friday, January 8th as we explore the essentials of social permaculture and its promise for personal transformation, organizational design, social justice, and more.
Adam is a cultural artist, author and systems thinker based in his hometown of Denver, Colorado. As co-founder of The GrowHaus, Adam helped transform an abandoned half-acre greenhouse into an award-winning hub for food justice. In 2017, Adam’s book Change Here Now: Permaculture Solutions for Personal and Community Transformation was published by North Atlantic Books. Adam has supported and consulted with the Natural Resources Defense Council, the National Young Farmers Coalition, the City and County of Denver, and dozens of other organizations. Today, he supports individuals, institutions and communities in applying nature’s wisdom to social change through his business Regenerate Change.
