Salon duc Tape – What’s Really Recyclable in Northern Colorado – September 22nd
This salon will be held in-person at the FoCo Café, located at 225 Maple Street in Fort Collins. This will be our first in-person meeting since March of 2020. Please bring an item – SUP or not – that you’re not sure is recyclable. We will place them on a table at the front of the room, and Maureen will refer to them as she gives her talk. Additionally, please bring at least one non-perishable food item to donate to the FoCo Cafe. The café is not charging us for the use of their space, so consider this as your entrance ticket. However, if bringing a non-perishable food item is difficult for any reason, please don’t let that prevent you from joining us.
Maureen is a graduate of the Beyond Plastics Speakers Bureau. She worked for her County and City in Waste Reduction and Recycling for 12 years, and got tired of people waving their plastic clamshells at her and exclaiming: “Why are you saying these aren’t recyclable? It says so right here!”, and pointing to the chasing arrows with a number 1 inside them. FoCo Trash Mob was an idea that came to her for several reasons, including that she watched a documentary by Frontline entitled “Plastic Wars” and had steam coming out of her ears upon learning the history of how the plastics industry subverted the public’s outcry to their pollution. FoCo Trash Mob responds to plastic pollution by organizing events that return that pollution to the offender.
Salon duc Tape, a public forum sponsored by the Northern Colorado Alliance for a Livable Future (NCALF), usually meets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month from 7:00 — 9:00 p.m. We generally meet online via Zoom, but this one – and one more in the spring – will be held at the FoCo Café, as noted above. No need to RSVP; we hope to see you there on September 22nd!
